Book News: Little Brown Announces New Lemony Snicket Series

Little Brown for Young Readers has announced that Lemony Snicket aka Daniel Handler (shh!) is publishing a new series due for release in October.

Who Could That Be at This Hour? is the first of four in the “autobiographical” All the Wrong Questions series, which will explore Snicket’s youth “in a fading town, far from anyone he knew or trusted.”  The novel will be released in hardcover, audio and eBook. It will have a gigantic one million first print run. Read the announcement from Little Brown below:

“We are thrilled to be publishing this compelling new series by Mr. Snicket, which will at long last reveal the renowned author’s mysterious past,” said Little, Brown BFYR senior v-p and publisher Megan Tingley in a statement. Snicket’s characteristically acid remark on the new series: “These books are questionable and contain questions. I, for one, question why anyone would be interested in reading them.” (Publishers Weekly)

The real question is how long will it be until we see this series being adapted for film. I would put my bets on it already being considered by producers. Yes even before publication, just as Harry Potter was considered by producer David Heyman before it was published!
