It goes without question how excited I am for this movie. The Perks of Being a Wallflower was one of those books that meant a lot to me in my early teenage years, and to finally see it hit the big screen is amazing. If you haven’t see the trailer yet, watch it here!

One of things I’m most looking forward to is the music in the film. The book referenced so many great songs, and I was curious to see which ones author/screenwriter/director Stephen Chbosky would incorporate into the film. Luckily, he revealed the tracklist for the soundtrack on HuffPost Entertainment the other day!

“Over many years, I have collected songs,” “Perks” author (the film is an adaptation), screenwriter and director Stephen Chbosky writes in the album’s liner notes. “I’ve shared them with friends. And they have shared their favorites with me. Some of the songs are popular. Some of them are not known by a whole lot of people. But they are all great in their own way. And since these songs have meant a lot to me, I just wanted you have them as a soundtrack for whatever you need them to be for your life.”

Sweet! Check out the tracklist below! It features some of my favorite music. I sort of freaked out over some of these tracks.

Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller in ‘Perks’

1. The Samples – Could It Be Another Change
2. Dexys Midnight Runners – Come On Eileen
3. Galaxie 500 – Tugboat
4. New Order – Temptation
5. The Innocence Mission – Evensong
6. The Smiths – Asleep
7. Cracker – Low
8. Sonic Youth – Teenage Riot
9. XTC – Dear God
10. Cocteau Twins – Pearly-Dewdrops’ Drops
11. Michael Brook – Charlie’s Last Letter
12. David Bowie – Heroes

The soundtrack will be released on September 18th, both in stores and digitally. You can pre-order now at our TYF Store, powered by Amazon.

What do you think of the soundtrack? I love it. Also, don’t forget check back next week! I’ll have an early review of the film then.
