Microsoft recently announced their new rewards program for Xbox LIVE Gold members. Players are eligible for rewards and discounts based on how high their gamerscore is, from 3,000 all the way up to 25,000. The basic Contender tier gives you access to a birthday gift during your birthday month. No word yet on what this might be, whether it is discounts on XBLA games or unique birthday themed avatar items. The upper tiers give a 1% and 2% rebate on all Xbox LIVE Marketplace purchases, excluding the purchase of Microsoft points and renewing Gold memberships.  It’s like getting achievements for your achievements. Achievementception? Maybe, but it’s a nice little program that rewards gamers for their continued service to the Xbox community.
