Remember my write-up on music producer J’Nae Morrae?  Well, check out her latest song! A twist on Beyonce’s “Diva”

Brewing her magic in the DC area, J’Nae Morrae serves up different cups of her Chai Tea in her latest EP. It takes you into a club-friendly ambiance with songs like “Hit Meh,” “de Boyz Dem,” and “Sex, Wine, and Tea.” And then the EP takes several left-field turns with songs like “Tattoo.” The juxtapose of Miguel’s soft-toned song mixed with the hyper rhythm is interesting because it takes the mysterious element of that song and it stretches it out as a journey on this drawn out track. Interludes often times are the best songs on an album, and Miss Morrae throws in a ferocious cup of chai tea at your face with Muhammad Ali and Etta James’ ever-inspirational voices on the interlude record of this EP. She is letting you know that she, J’Nae Morrae, is a force to be reckoned with, and she uses her mad producing skills as the form to complement the content. Things slow down and the hyper beats take a seat while “Classy Booty Call,” takes the lead in the second half of the EP. It’s reminiscent of the kind of music you hear while strolling down an isle at Barnes and Nobles while sipping on some Starbucks coffee or some tea. And then, suddenly, we are taken out of the serenity and back in party mode as J’Nae surprises us with her electro-induced beats that could match the likes of DJs at Ultra or Eletric Zoo.
