Interview with Actor Tony Amendola & Curandero/Shaman Salvador Gata About “Annabelle”

The Conjuring is only a year old, but the mental and physical anguish it caused us is still very present.  Whether or not it was based on real events is a moot point when we know the terror and fear we felt was very real. I enjoy watching horror films, even the truly awful ones. Unfortunately, most horror films these days inspire more laughter than screams, but The Conjuring was a needed reminder that horror films can have an engaging story and still scare you. Let’s hope the same is true of the film’s spin-off/prequel Annabelle, coming out on October 3rd.

I was able to ask Tony Amendola, who plays Father Pérez, about the film, his own encounters with the supernatural, and his feelings on horror films.

After the interview with Tony Amendola, I was feeling some dark energy. Maybe it had something to do with the subject matter. Maybe it was the hideous doll behind me. Who knows. Luckily, curander/shaman Salvador Gata (respected Los Angeles spiritualist) was on standby to explain the nature of demonic possession and dark energies. Just to make sure I was cleared of any darkness, he performed an ancient ritual of cleansing.

Turns out I was cleared of all malevolent forces, but then again I hadn’t seen Annabelle yet. Don’t forget to check out the film in theaters October 3rd. Maybe you’ll need some spiritual counseling afterward.
