Ridley Scott alert for all fans! FOX just released the new trailer for The Martian, Scott’s upcoming film. We’ve gotten a few glimpses of it over the last few months, but now we get a clear vision of what the story is all about.
Starring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Sebastian Stan, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sean Bean, and Donald Glover, the film tells the story of Mark Watney (Damon), an astronaut who is presumed dead after a fierce storm during a mission on Mars. Left behind by his crew, Watney must find a way to subsist and communicate with NASA, 140 million miles away. The three-minute trailer (just below) practically shows us 80% of the entire plot of the film (why won’t people learn that this is NOT how you do a trailer?), but, in spite of that, it manages to capture your attention with some outstanding “outer space scenes.” The song “All Along the Watchtower” from The Jimi Hendrix Experience was also a nice touch.
I have my doubts with Mr. Scott’s projects. I mean, I hated The Counselor, and last year’s Exodus: Gods and Kings was just “meh” for me. Nevertheless, this film looks interesting: a mix of Gravity and Interstellar, with a hint of Apollo 13.
The Martian is based on a best-selling novel of the same title by Andy Weir and will open on October 2nd. Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think!
