Matt is a 21 year old film buff and recent graduate from The University of Rhode Island. Growing up in a small town in the smallest state, Matt began developing a taste in film and general geekdom at a young age. After years of watching various DC and Marvel animated television shows as a boy, Matt has become quite the afficinado in the realm of comic books. Towards the end of middle school, Matt began delving into the world of film by watching anything he could get his hands on. Nowadays, his tastes range from classic film noir and the mindbending works of David Cronenberg to the latest trends on the independent scene. Don't worry; he's still one for the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or DC animated adventure. Comics aren't the only source of literature Matt enjoys. He can sometimes be spotted reading the works of Stephen King or even the plays of William Shakespeare. As an aspiring film critic and screenwriter, Matt is always looking for inspiration and new ideas.

TV Review: Gotham 2×10 ‘The Son of Gotham’

As an episode that will lead into the mid-season finale, last night’s Gotham failed at properly presenting the larger picture. I couldn’t help but groan when Galavan’s master plan went full circle. I understand that this show is tied to…

Movie Review: ‘Legend’

Ever since I first saw him in Bronson, I have been consistently captivated by watching Tom Hardy perform on screen. Since then, he has grown from being a versatile supporting actor to a bankable leading man. Unlike some actors who…

By the Sea, the third directorial effort by Angelina Jolie, feels like nothing more than a self-indulgent vanity project.  I went into this film expecting something more. As flawed as her other two films are, I at least recognized her…

TV Review: Gotham 2×09 ‘A Bitter Pill to Swallow’

The biggest problem with a lot of prequels is the feeling of security. Given that many characters will no doubt appear down the line, there’s rarely a time where it appears like they are in actual danger. Gotham is a…

TV Review: Gotham 2×08 ‘Tonight’s the Night’

Judging from the preview at the end of last week’s Gotham, I had a strong feeling that Barbara was going to bite it this week. Given that she fell out of a cathedral window last night, It appeared that I…

TV Review: Gotham 2×07 ‘Mommy’s Little Monster’

I haven’t been reserved in my thoughts on Gotham. At the end of the first season, I couldn’t bring myself to place it alongside DC’s other successes Arrow and The Flash. In its second season, Gotham has improved. While it’s…

Movie Review: ‘Burnt’

Burnt had me salivating for much more than the food that was constantly prepared on-screen.  It’s literally “food pornography” throughout most of the film’s flashy montages. There’s plenty of instances where I felt desire in my stomach for a well…
