Book News: Veronica Roth’s ‘Allegiant’ Cover Reveal

The cover for Allegiant is here! Just take a moment to bask in its glory…

The long-awaited reveal took place on this morning’s Today Show. Author Veronica Roth sat down with Ryan Seacrest to talk about the Divergent trilogy, the upcoming film and to debut Allegiant’s cover. I’ve met Roth twice, and she’s really awesome and kind, so it’s great to see her getting this kind of acclaim and recognition in national media.

As for the cover, we don’t get an explanation about the new symbol, which looks like a wave of water, or why Chicago’s O’Hare airport is the building featured on the bottom. I do find it interesting that the three books represent a different natural element. (Divergent has a fire symbol, Insurgent has an earth symbol, Allegiant has a water symbol…) The tagline “One Choice Will Define You” is the most telling. Along with the title, it’s obvious Tris will have a big decision to make: who should she stay loyal to? In my opinion, it’ll probably be whatever side Four’s on. (Love always wins in the end.) It’ll be interesting to see what these things on the cover will end up representing in the plot.

We have until October 22nd to theorize on what the cover means and what we could expect in the final installment of the Divergent trilogy. Click here to read the official description from Allegiant!

What do you think the wave of water symbolizes? Let us know your theories.
