An old friend returns in first trailer for Disney’s Christopher Robin

Walt Disney Pictures has released the teaser trailer for Christopher Robin.  The film is expected to be released in theaters on August 3, 2018.

The trailer runs just over a minute.  The cartoons have historically featured Christopher Robin as a child but Disney is taking the film in a different direction.  We’re introduced to Christopher Robin years later as an adult married to Evelyn with a daughter Madeline.  He’s lost his sense of imagination so it’s up to the likes of Winnie the Pooh and friends to bring it back.

Marc Forster directs the film from a screenplay written by Alex Ross Perry and Allison Schroeder.  The script is based on the characters created by A.A. Milne.  Fox Searchlight released a biopic last fall, Goodbye Christopher Robin, starring Domhnall Gleeson as the late author.

Brigham Taylor and Kristin Burr will produce while Renée Wolfe and Jeremy Johns executive produce.  The cast includes Ewan McGregor as Christopher Robin; Hayley Atwell as his wife Evelyn; Bronte Carmichael as his daughter Madeline; and Mark Gatiss as Keith Winslow, Robin’s boss. The film also features the voices of: Jim Cummings as Winnie the Pooh; Chris O’Dowd as Tigger; Brad Garrett as Eeyore; Toby Jones as Owl; Nick Mohammed as Piglet; Peter Capaldi as Rabbit; and Sophie Okonedo as Kanga.
