This week, can our heroes handle the truth? After their trials and ordeals retrieving the White Spider Staff from the sewers, the party goes to bargain with their old ally Debora the Cut-ear, and in doing so, discover her true identity: Mogla Yarud, Princess of The Jungle.
In her magic mansion, she enlightens the party as to why she went into hiding, as well as why and how she captured the magnificent bard, Ziggy Starchild. More importantly, she gives more information about this mysterious and powerful Nakresh – namely that he was a former nigh-invincible king that was overthrown by her ancestors, and swore that he would return to seek vengeance one day. And now, it seems, that day has come.
There are 9 powerful leaders in the great city-state, all of whom command great power and territory, and all of whom are caught up in their own webs of alliances and rivalries. Nakresh is not just powerful, un-aging, and invulnerable to most attacks – he is also a shapeshifter. It was not enough to murder the king and threaten Mogla’s life. He has now killed one of these leaders and taken their place, using their position to play a political game of chess and take over the city once more. Mogla is sure of this, and set to win this game herself… but she’s going to need the help of our heroes to do it.
Are they up for the task? Only time will tell. But after returning Ziggy and clearing their names off The Butchers’ hit list, the party has to face the fact that there is so much that they don’t know. Who are the musicians that rival Ziggy and why do they inspire such devotion in their audiences? Who is Team Fireball? But most of all, who can they trust? Well, one of the greatest ways to find out is within Alexandrus’ wheelhouse, a little spell called Zone of Truth.
