Music Video Round-Up: Kendrick Lamar, One Direction, HAIM, Carly Rae Jepsen!

one direction teenage kicksSo many new music videos this week deserved their own post here at!

Kendrick Lamar, One Direction, HAIM and Carly Rae Jepsen released new music videos and below are my thoughts on them, the videos will be posted at the bottom of the post, read on!

One Direction debuted their music video for their cover of Blondie’s  “One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)“. Instead of the boys spending money on a music video with amazing production and whatnot, they decided to film a video themselves and give that money to the Comic Relief charity and film the video while they were on tour. WAY TO GO ONE DIRECTION! The video is both funny and adorable, and with their star power I am sure that a lot of their fans have already donated money to Comic Relief.

Moving on, remember the winners of BBC’s Sound of 2013? The band HAIM, released their music video for “Falling“, in which the three California sisters manage to survive in the woods. Catchy song! And the video takes place in a cliff, I see what you did there in reference to falling!

On the other hand, Kendrick Lamar released his music video for “Poetic Justice” featuring Drake. As if good kid, m.A.A.d city didn’t feel like a cinematic experience while I was listening to the album, the video for “Poetic Justice” is kind of a slow motion movie: there are two lovers, an enemy, Drake leaving a voice mail and tragedy right around the corner. The last scene of Kendrick and his crush is shot down on the ground and an ambulance goes to pick them up, and then the video shows a flashback of the couple minutes before it all happened.

Finally, since both “Call Me Maybe” and “Good Time” might have been good songs for some people, to me both became annoying after a while because of the massive radio airplay, but Carly Rae Jepsen is back with “Tonight I’m Getting Over You“. The video starts off with Carly Rae Jepsen and her on screen boyfriend being all lovey-dovey, to the point that if you weren’t listening to the song you might think it was a happy one, but nope it’s all about Carly Rae forgetting about the first scenes of the video! The song is good, let’s hope the radio doesn’t overplay it.

Which one was your favorite video released this week? Let us know!
