10 Pop Culture Costume Ideas for Halloween 2013

Best-Halloween-Costumes-Ideas-For-2013 Halloween is only a few weeks away. If you’re scrambling to find a costume for any upcoming parties, never fear. This year, Hollywood has delivered us some amazing fodder for costume ideas. Here are ten pop culture Halloween ideas for 2013. [tps_title]Francis Underwood (House of Cards) Netflix[/tps_title]

Kevin Spacy’s slow-talking, double-dealing politician has launched a thousand memes and YouTube videos parodying Underwood’s distinct way of addressing the audience. It’s an easy costume to do as well. Grab a suit, use your best watered-down British accent and start talking out loud to an invisible audience. It’s best to do this in a crowd of people to get the full effect. If you manage to pull a political coup or two during the night that adds some bonus points for your costume. Another easy one, just grab a suit (perhaps the one you were going to use for Francis Underwood) and you too can be NBC’s cool and collected resident cannibal. Throw a dinner party with some deviously named courses and watch as your friends ponder whether you’re a cannibal too. You can also go to the extreme and pull off the demonic Hannibal that haunts Will Graham, it’ll work on giving your friends nightmares as well. [tps_title]Kanye West’s Ego[/tps_title]

Proclaiming yourself to be a God and then naming your album with your new self-imposed godly title takes a lot of… well, you know. Kanye West has never been known as a humble man. Over the years his ego has grown at such exponential rates that it even has its own Twitter page (actually it has several twitter pages). The only question is: how do you create such a costume? I’m sure mirrors have to be involved, but you can also use this wonderful picture as reference. [tps_title]Khan (Star Trek Into Darkness)[/tps_title]

Love him or hate him, Benedict Cumberbatch managed to own the role of Khan. While a Star Trek costume is a standard go-to late costume idea, it’s still a classic. Add a leather trench coat, slick back your hair, and use your best British accent to portray one of this year’s best villains. [tps_title]Kaiju (Pacific Rim)[/tps_title]

Pacific Rim helped remind us that giant monsters from outer space are awesome. It hearkened back to a time in our childhood when Godzilla reigned supreme. Unfortunately, you’re most likely to be big to fit into your old Godzilla costume anymore. Thanks to the summer hit there are many other Kaiju that would make perfect costumes. If humongous, destructive, alien monsters aren’t your cup of tea, that’s okay. You can be a Jaeger pilot because Pacific Rim also reminded us that robots are awesome. Bonus points if you manage to construct an actual Jaeger. [tps_title]Leslie Knope During The Government Shutdown (Parks and Recreation) NBC[/tps_title]

A Leslie Knope costume could never be bad. If we had more Leslie Knopes in government maybe the infamous 16 day shutdown would’ve never happened. Unfortunately, it did. One can only imagine how dear Leslie would have handled the more than two weeks off from work. An unhinged Leslie, who looks more like a zombie than her usual put together self is sure to strike fear into everyone.

[tps_title]The Fox (Ylvis)[/tps_title]

If you have yet to watch the video for Ylvis’ song “The Fox” fix it. In late summer the music world was invaded by an almost philosophical question: What does the fox say? While we may never know the answer to that question, we can still dress up like a fox or one of the other animals Ylvis croons about. [tps_title]Miley Cyrus[/tps_title]

Miley, Miley, Miley. There’s so much material to choose from if you decide to be the “twerking” pop tart. Miley’s journey of self-discovery has played out in front of the public’s eye for the past year. What better way to honor that than by parodying her antics with a Halloween costume. Easily enough, you can brush off that old Gwen Stefani costume you wore in middle school and boom, you’re ready. Don’t forget to stick your tongue out at all times to differentiate the two. [tps_title]Walter White (Breaking Bad) AMC[/tps_title]

Say farewell to Breaking Bad by honoring the kingpin himself, Walter White. As flawed as he was, he always did manage to strike fear into his enemies, which is ultimately your goal for Halloween. So wear your Heisenberg hat and make a batch of blue meth candy one last time to send off one of the greatest TV characters in the past decade.[tps_title]RobbWind (Game of Thrones) HBO[/tps_title]
