Book Review: Unraveled Visions by Nina Milton

Unraveled VisionsDeath to a detective, a missing phone that seems to be found just to be lost again, disappearance of a young gypsy girl, a worried sister, and a girl who decides to seek the hidden connection between all of these events even after coppers suggesting there is none. All these deadly events are quickly becoming the talk of the supposedly safe Bridgewater town. The book suggests that everything might look safe from a distance but when you dig deeper the missing loose ends tend to unravel before your eyes or in Sabbie’s circumstance in your spirit world.

Sabbie is a Therapeutic Sharman who has a Bachelor’s degree and practices Shamanic Reiki, which combines the healing powers of the spirit world and channeling that energy to understand a person’s inner story. The stories she envisions in the spirit world are not always clear-cut and she has to go through a lot of tangled knots in both worlds to understand the truth of a story, the connection between both realms, and how to save everyone in danger including her.

She has had a not-to-great experience with the coppers before hand and even though she had recently helped them solve another case with Detective Inspector Reynard Buckley, referred to as Rey they weren’t completely forthcoming with her about the current investigation, especially Rey. So she decided to take matters into her own spirit world since the coppers seemed to have hit a dead end she started up her own investigation and that was when a woman started banging her door. “Hi, I am Mirela Brouvichie, my sister Kizzy, you met yesterday, and she go missing help! Please!“ Not that Sabbie needed another reason to get more intimately involved in this case but Mirela had given her both motivation and a place to start.

This story reveals the adventure these two get into to find her missing sister and a killer that has taken more than one life within the months. Its fun to witness a woman who keeps being downsized by her gift and shaken off by the coppers by never providing “real” evidence yet never letting their lack of confidence in her stray her from her journey. She is a strong and independent woman and when she was stuck in one of the stories biggest dangerous moments she didn’t need anyone else but herself and her gift to get through it with only a few bumps and bruises. It is also frustrating trying to figure out who the killer really is, usually a story gives you a few obvious suspects and far fetched choices and before it is revealed in the story you already know who killed who but not in, “Unraveled Visions” by Nina Milton. I was honestly surprised to find out who was at fault for the Bridgewater murders and even though I was wrong about who might have done it I have a feeling that my suspicions about other people might turn out to be on point in another Sharman mystery novel…
