With the “Silent Hill” movies taking their genesis from the “Silent Hill” video games, the ideal setting to announce the release of “Revelation” was the 2012 Comic-Con. Those fortunate enough to attend this year were shown two preview clips of the movie. Attendees were also invited to a question and answer session with writer and director , producer Samuel Hadida and the nightmare-tormented star, Adelaide Clemens. Just enough tantalizing “revelations” were made about the sequel during the panel interview to pique anyone’s interest, fan and non-fan alike:

Success as a Standalone Movie

He believes that he crafted the story in a manner that won’t leave anyone in the dark if they are unfamiliar with the “Silent Hill” games or haven’t seen the first movie. He also described it as a sequel that’s packed with Easter Eggs and trivia points that devoted fans will pick up on and be pleased to find.

Mannequin Monster

In addition to the gruesome, disturbing nurses in the video clip shown during the panel discussion which can be streamed on IGN.com, Bassett discussed another monster created for “Revelation: the mannequin monster. Mannequins are creepy in general, but wait until you see this one in action. It carries a hoard of different heads, changing them out as it chases down its victims, moving about in a spider-like way. 3D Version

Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights announced the “Silent Hill: Revelation” 3D attraction to open coinciding with the October 26, 2012 release of the movie. Universal promises movie-set quality and the scare of a lifetime for all thrill-seekers visiting their Hollywood and Florida locations.

Who Will Make it Out Alive?

In the open floor portion of the panel, an audience member pointed out that Sean Bean — in the role of Sharon/Heather’s father, Harry Mason/Christopher Da Silva — has a track record of not making it out of his movies alive. When asked by the clever fan if Sean would live through “Revelation”, Bassett responded with the semi answer (or half-revelation): “Yes and no. And you’re going to have to see the movie to find out why that is a completely true answer.”

So will the 3D format enhance or inhibit the overall effect of the movie? Considering 3D is the trend in Hollywood lately, it was most likely insisted upon by the studio. In the end, though, hard-core “Silent Hill” fans will neither be drawn in or stay away because of the format. They’ll be pouring into theaters for the movie they’ve waited over half a decade for.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D hits theaters October 26th.
