SDCC 2017: WB announces Wonder Woman sequel & more DC movies

Ever since she lasso’d her way into our hearts earlier this summer, we’ve been eagerly awaiting any official news about Wonder Woman’s next cinematic chapter. Lucky for us, today at San Diego Comic Con, Warner Bros. announced that a Wonder Woman sequel is officially on its schedule

There has been a lot of speculation about when the Wonder Woman sequel will take place and if acclaimed director Patty Jenkins will also helm the next movie. WB has yet to confirmed that Patty Jenkins will be returning to direct the second film, but no details were given on what the sequel will be about and if it would take place in present day. There have been a number of reports that Wonder Woman 2 will see Diana during the Cold War in the 1980’s and that Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) will return in some capacity. I definitely think seeing Diana in that tense setting would completely captivating, but I’m not sure how I feel about Trevor’s character making a return, given his exit at the end of the first film. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see what ends up being true. In the meantime, Wonder Woman will be back on the big screen later this year in Justice League.

In addition to Wonder Woman 2, Warner Bros. announced more DC movies that they plan to release. Get ready for Suicide Squad 2The BatmanJustice League DarkBatgirl (directed by Joss Whedon), Green Lantern Corps, and The Flash: Flashpoint. We have all this plus Aquaman starring Jason Momoa and directed by James Wan to look forward to from the DCEU.

Justice League arrives in theaters on November 17, 2017.
