HVFF 2017: Guardians of the Galaxy Panel

The Guardians made it to Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in San Jose, CA this past weekend. OK, OK. Not the actual guardians, but at least we got the ravagers from Guardians of the Galaxy: Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Chris Sullivan (Taserface), and Steve Agee (Gef) in our presence! And look, it was a really good panel which ended with a little girl getting on stage for her chance to ask her own question! While we don’t have the complete audio for this one, we do have the highlights ready for you.

  1. What songs would they want on the Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix. 3?

Sean Gunn: “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight,” by England Dan and John Ford Coley
Steve Agee: “So Into You,” by Atlanta Rhtyhm Section
Chris Sullivan: “Diamonds on the Sole of Her Shoes,” by Paul Simon
  2. What’s the chemistry like for the cast?

As you probably would have guessed it, it’s all fun. They do joke around at first, mentioning it’s really tense with a lot of rivalry and beard scratching. But when answering seriously, Sullivan goes on to say it’s enjoyable and feels like more fun than they should be having for a 200 million dollar film.
  3. There’s a kickstarter to kill off Chris Sullivan’s character Toby in NBC’s This is Us!

OK, no there’s not but it was an idea! Agee was motivated to start a kickstarter to kill off the beloved character and spearhead the movement. Luckily, another fan in the audience saved that from actually happening…
  4. Does Sean have Yondu’s fin?

In short, no. There were multiple prototypes of that fin and the idea was that part of that technology can be reproduced. In fact, it’s hard to keep everything from set. Agee once tried to take a pair of goggles during San Diego Comic Con when they dressed up as their characters. However, he was unable to do so after a production assistant was furiously running around looking for those exact same pair of goggles.
  5. Taserface is pinned to a mat board underneath his parents’ bed.

As weird as that sounds, it’s true. The cast’s makeup artists framed his prosthetics and makeup to a mat board and he had no idea where to put it. Naturally, he gave it to his parents (who are from Sacramento!) to put somewhere in their house.

From beards to soundtracks, Gunn, Sullivan and Agee gave us one entertaining panel.
