Best Picture

“We are thrilled that the Academy has recognized the craft and talent of so many of the incredible people that brought the story of ‘Dunkirk’ to life. But most of all, this recognition helps us to believe that we have done some justice to honouring all those whose lives were affected by the real life events at Dunkirk.” – Christopher Nolan & Emma Thomas (Dunkirk)

Best Sound Editing

“I’m thrilled about my nomination for ‘Dunkirk.’ It was a labor of love for everyone involved and I’m happy it’s getting the recognition it deserves.” – Richard King (Dunkirk)

“I’m thrilled our movie was recognized. BLADE RUNNER 2049 is a masterpiece of thoughtful, nuanced and impressionistic sound art. Not the kind of work customarily recognized for this award. This nomination confirms that the best ears in Hollywood and around the world found value in the details, the emotion and the storytelling that sound brings to a motion picture.” – Mark Mangini (Blade Runner 2049)

“The day of the Oscar nominations is one day you don’t mind getting up at 5 a.m.  As I watched live, every time they said ‘Blade Runner 2049,’ my hands shot up in the air!  It is so exciting to be nominated.  This was a labor of love in which we also tried to do something different, restrained and real.  It’s been a dream for the last two years, and I’m thrilled the dream is lasting a bit longer.” – John Nelson (Blade Runner 2049)
