Captain Marvel takes flight in first official trailer

The long-awaited Captain Marvel trailer is finally here!

Starting with Captain Marvel, played by Oscar winner Brie Larson, crash landing into a Blockbuster Video, Marvel movie fans are thrust into a new (or older) era of the cinematic universe. Set in the ’90s, this serves as an origin story for Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers, making it Marvel’s first solo super-heroine film.

The trailer narrated by young Nick Fury (still played by Samuel L. Jackson – thanks to CGI) and aims to tell the story of how Carol Danvers came to be Captain Marvel, while tracing back to her childhood and time at the Air Force Academy. In addition to Larson and Jackson, Jude Law stars as Mar-Vell, and we get a short and untelling glimpse of him in the trailer. Audiences will also see Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson,  Lee Pace as Ronan and Djimon Hounsou as Korath, the latter two are familiar from Guardians of the Galaxy.  Lashana Lynch and Gemma Chan also join the cast along with Ben Mendelsohn.

From directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel arrives into theaters on March 8, 2019.
