2019 Academy Awards Nominations Announced

Oscar season is quickly coming to a head, as the nominees for the 91st Academy Awards were announced on Tuesday morning.  As usual, there many snubs to be had.  Some of the more notable performances exclusions were Toni Collette, Ethan Hawke and Thom Yorke from their respective categories. Still, there was a lot to be excited about. Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Favourite and Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma both walked away leading with 10 awards.

This year’s award shows has a lot of firsts, however:

The cultural phenomenon Black Panther is the first superhero film to ever be nominated for Best Picture.

Netflix nabs its first best picture nomination thanks to Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma

Spike Lee, finally, is given his first ever nomination for Best Director

Lady Gaga is the first actress to ever get nominated for both a leading acting role and original song.

So now we must ask, was your favorite film nominated? We have several snubs that we may cover in a list in the near future. Give it a look and let us know!
