Movie News: ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes’ officially green-lit

Rejoice Mundanes!

It seems that way before the release of ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones‘, the sequel for ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes‘ has been officially green-lit!

The film’s producer, Martin Moszkowicz announced on his Twitter, while the movie is making it’s rounds for buyers at Cannes Film Festival, this announcement was also confirmed by Deadline:

The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones, the first movie in the series, doesn’t come out until August, but buyers will get a taste for its sequel during Cannes. Stars Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower are returning for part two, The Mortal Instruments: City Of Ashes, as is director Harald Zwart, and a fall start is planned. As it did with the first, Mister Smith Entertainment is selling the adaptation of the second book in Cassandra Clare’s fantasy series that’s produced by Constantin Film and Unique Features.

As a fan of the books, I couldn’t be happier for the release, this fandom is super dedicated and I hope that this becomes the next big thing. However, noticing how other young adult book-to-movie adaptations tanked at the box office like Beautiful Creatures, I Am Number Four and The Host, it is a bold move to already green light a sequel without the movie premiering first. I’m guessing the buyers at Cannes are loving it then!
