Get on up and ready for lots of biopics coming your way this year! What started with 12 Years a Slave and The Wolf of Wall Street will soon lead to Grace of Monaco, Railway Man and All Is by My Side, just to name a few. You all remember Chadwick Boseman from the film 42 last year, right? Well, from Jackie Robinson and a baseball bat, he walks to the music and life of Mr. James Brown.
‘Get On Up‘ is directed by Tate Taylor (The Help) and tells the story of how Mr. Brown came to be known as the Godfather of Soul. Boseman did a tremendous job as Robinson last year, so I don’t doubt he will show us a great James Brown this year. The trailer shows just snippets of Brown’s youth and his rise to stardom. The film also stars Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, Jill Scott, and Dan Aykroyd. And FYI: Mick Jagger is one of the producers, so we can expect a great soundtrack as well.
