Our partner, OurTiempo.com, is at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah! They are doing a live blog of their activity and the latest happenings at the festival. So without further ado, read the updates below on how the first day at Sundance went down!
Friday, January 20th
11:00 am – With Jesse Williams from Grey’s Anatomy and star of the new Joss Whedon horror film The Cabin in the Woods. Jesse announced the launch of new production company FarWord Inc.

5:00 pm – Whats the buzz: In the first deal at Sundance, Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the rights in North America to Swedish director Malik Bendjelloul’s debut “Searching for Sugar Man.” Pic focuses on the story of Rodriguez, a singer discovered in Detroit in the late 1960s who failed to catch on commercially, then disappeared into obscurity amid rumors of a gruesome on-stage suicide — but a bootleg recording found its way into apartheid South Africa and, over the next two decades, he became a phenomenon. story of two South African fans who set out to find out what really happened to their hero.
10:00 pm – Today saw “Half A Revolution” that gives you an on-the-ground view of last year’s Egyptian popular revolt that toppled long-time strongman Hosni Mubarak. Just goes to show that making a documentary is not easy… and “Queen of Versailes” and awesome riches to rags documentary/tragi-comic look at David and Jacqueline Siegel, whose plan to build a 90,000-square-foot mansion in Orlando, Fla., was sidetracked when David Siegel’s timeshare empire suffered reversals in the economic crash of 2008.
11:00 pm – Ending the evening at the Bing Bar Simon Killer premiere after party.

Saturday, January 21st
9:00 am – More screenings, this is a film festival. Checked out “Filly Brown” Up-and-comer Gina Rodriguez stars as the titular character in the Latino hip-hop drama that tells the story of a young street poet who is trying to find her true voice even as she stands on the cusp of stardom. Directed by Youssef Delara (who also wrote the screenplay) and Michael D. Olmos, the film also stars Edward James Olmos, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Jenni Rivera.
4:00 pm – Saw “Violeta se fue a los cielos” Andrés Wood’s musical biography of Violeta Parra… “[I doubt that Violeta is in heaven].” Check out the trailer below:

Sunday, January 22nd
3:00 pm – Kristen bell….lovely and tiny..
5:00 pm – Whats the buzz: “Arbitrage”- A great performance by Nate Parker… and a pretty entertaining film by 25 year old Nick Jarecki… and what does his dad think of the movie about a troubled hedge-fund manager… shot at his home no less.
6:00 pm – With Singer Jenni Rivera who makes her acting debut in “Filly Brown.”
Monday, January 23rd
3:00 pm – With Irish actor Allan neill arriving today to the premiere of his movie shadow dancer. MTV has called it one of the 10 most anticipated films at Sundance this year, can’t wait to see it.
Bumped into Michael K. Williams of HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire.”
