Film News: Elle Fanning may star in MALEFICENT with Angelina Jolie

Twitch Film is reporting that Elle Fanning is now in talks to play Sleeping Beauty in the upcoming Maleficent, where Angelina Jolie will play the title role. When I first heard of Jolie’s involvement with the film, I was interested. However, for a while it looked like the movie would never make it to the big screen. Now that Oscar-winning-visual effects-guru Robert Stromberg has signed on to direct the film, things seem to be moving forward.

I’m very happy to hear that Elle Fanning is being considered for the role of Princess Aurora. The girl has talent and has worked with directors like David Fincher, Francis Ford Coppola, etc. She has definitely proven that she can hold her own opposite of Jolie.  We all know that Jolie will probably nail her role as the villain. I’m also glad to hear that this project is moving forward. Yeah, there are an onslaught of fairy tale re-adaptations coming our way. Normally, I would be annoyed, but I’ve decided to embrace them. Plus, I love Sleeping Beauty, and it looks like two actresses that I adore will be in it. So what is there to complain about?
