Based on the novel When Marnie Was There, comes the latest animated feature from Studio Ghibli. The film features the voice talents of Hailee Steinfeld as Anna and Kiernan Shipka as Marnie. This is the second feature directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi (The Secret World of Arrietty).
When Marnie Was There follows Anna, a young girl who is sent from the city to a foster home in Hokkaido, a sleepy town by the sea. While there she befriends Marnie, who is only visible to her and lives in a seemingly abandoned house. Set in a fantastical world full of magic and mystery, this film contains all the makings of another classic from Studio Ghibli. I can’t wait to see it!
The film is scheduled to be released on May 22nd.
