Back in 2010, you, I, and the rest of the world followed the story of a group of thirty-three miners that were buried alive by the collapse of a 100-year-old gold and copper mine in Copiapó, Chile. Their globally-televised rescue, which took over sixty-nine days, is a true and powerful story of survival that is now making its way to the big screen.

Just a few weeks ago, Warner Bros. released the trailer for The 33, film directed by Patricia Riggen and based on the true events of the thirty-three chilean miners. The two-and-a half minute trailer really shows all the struggle below and above the ground, so it promises to be one of those films with a heck of an emotional ride. One other minor detail: the film had the help of the miners, their families, and their rescuers.

The 33, starring Antonio Banderas (as Mario “Super Mario” Sepúlveda), Rodrigo Santoro, Juliette Binoche, James Brolin, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bob Gunton, Gabriel Byrne, Mario Casas, Jacob Vargas, Juan Pablo Raba, Oscar Nuñez, Tenoch Huerta, Marco Treviño, Adriana Barraza, Kate Del Castillo, Cote de Pablo, Elizabeth De Razzo, Naomi Scott, Gustavo Angarita, and Alejandro Goic, was written Mikko AlanneCraig Borten (Dallas Buyers Club) and Michael Thomas.

The film is scheduled to open on November 13, 2015 in the U.S, but just three days ago, it premiered in Chile, commemorating the 5th anniversary of the collapse. Watch the very emotional trailer below and let us know what you think!
