Film News: ‘Hunger Games’ & ‘Bridesmaids’ lead the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Nominations!

MTV recently announced that instead of having the public vote for the MTV Movie Awards nominees, they decided to create an “academy” of industry professionals to determine who should be honored with nominations. Obviously, they were tired of being called the Twilight Movie Awards. lol. Anyway, MTV just sent out a press release with the nominees and while the latest Twilight movie does have a presence (it has 2 nominations), it couldn’t take the lead over last year’s hit comedy Bridesmaids and the new super successful franchise, The Hunger Games. Both top the list at 8 nominations each. The last Potter film and 21 Jump Street have 6 nominations. In addition, they’ve added some new categories, got rid of some old ones and have better blend of indies and blockbusters.

Check out the rest of the nominees below. Sound off in the comments if you’re happy with MTV’s new way of choosing nominees and if you like the results below!
