The First Trailer For ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2’ Emerges from ‘Out of the Shadows’

I’m not gonna lie, I enjoyed the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. Not in any sort of artistically satisfying way, but in the way you enjoy a Twinkie. A big, goofy, fatty piece of sugar that evaporated right away but felt pretty damn good going down. Now, do the turtles look look like giant CGI Lima beans with expressive CG-Eyes? Yes. Is Megan Fox still a god awful actress? Absolutely. That still doesn’t change the fact that when those four turtles were skiing down that mountain, ramming into trucks, while cracking some jokes, I was deeply entertained.

Which brings us to this sequel, which under normal circumstances I would not care about very much at all. However, in an unlikely turn of events, they managed to land Arrow star Stephen Amell as the hockey mask wearing vigilante, Casey Jones. Being that Amell is not only the lead in one of my favorite shows, but also a fantastic and beautifully kind human being, it’s hard not to root for him in his blockbuster debut.  Hopefully his charms can elevate those of Megan Fox, who is still here, I guess. As for the rest of the film, frankly, it looks like a Ninja Turtles movie. I really don’t understand what else people could want from an adaptation of this property, especially when we have pretty damn accurate renditions of classic villains Bebop and Rocksteady this time around. Even with the somewhat stupid comedy writing, and the extremely dated song choice, I was somewhat charmed by this trailer. Any movie that involves a giant Rhino and Boar chasing turtles in a river with a tank will get at least one ticket out of me.
