Christopher Nolan’s next film a World War II Epic?

Already considered one of the best directors working today, many fans — or “Nolanites” as some of them like to be called — have been clamoring to see what’s next for Christopher Nolan. Based on what we know so far, Warner Bros. has already identified a release date for Nolan’s untitled film: July 21, 2017. Little, if anything, however, is known about what that project will be about.

According to La Voix Du Nord of France, Nolan’s next film will center on rescue mission Operation Dynamo. In the midst of the Second World War, thousands of British and Canadian troops were trapped near the English Channel by oncoming German forces. Operation Dynamo was put into motion to save these men from imminent death.

Though nothing more than a rumor at this point, this would be a unique change of pace for Nolan if it holds true. Having spent his most recent years directing films in the fantasy realm (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, and Interstellar), taking on a WWII story would be quite the spectacle.

One can remain certain that if this is indeed Nolan’s next film, a flurry of A-list actors will be chomping at the bit to join the project, while the rest of the world waits in line to watch it.
