The Jungle Book’s Awesome Portraits

With just over a week until the film premieres, The Jungle Book is all we can talk about in upcoming movies. They released their trailer Friday and have been showing debuting images and sneak peeks for months. But of all the forms of advertisement, their portrait campaign really does wonders.

The portraits feature the voice actors standing with their onscreen characters, animals of course. However, the images are so surreal you almost forget the animals are CGI effects and start to wonder if they really did get a giant python to stand with Scarlett Johansson.

Each actor is split with their character in a lifelike image that just begs you to watch the movie for the visual styling alone.

First up is Idris Elba, who plays Shere Khan, a Bengal tiger who has human-caused scars and thus has a dislike for all people.

Scarlett Johansson plays Kaa, a python whose manipulative personality easily takes advantage of Mowgli’s impressionability.

Lupita Nyong’o plays Raksha, a wolf who adopts Mowgli.

Christopher Walken plays King Louie, a huge royal ape who just wants to know about fire.

Ben Kingsley plays Bagheera, a panther, who, together with Raksha, adopts Mowgli and protects him in the jungle world.

Finally, Giancarlo Esposito plays Akela, the alpha wolf who welcomes Mowgli into the jungle.

Wait! Who’s missing? Why isn’t Bill Murray here? And while we all honor Garry Shandling in his recent death, we can’t help but wonder if there was anything from his last movie that we can cherish. And so here’s our makeshift one.
