The Will of the Western: The Magnificent Seven Teaser Trailer Releases

It’s been around 56 years since the western classic The Magnificent Seven was released in 1960, and a lot has changed since then. With westerns becoming a dying breed, and one of the few major release westerns this year being the critically and financially scorned Jane Got a Gun, most production companies aren’t looking towards the genre anymore. However, that appears to have not stopped Columbia Pictures, MGM and Village Roadshow Pictures from reviving the aforementioned western classic for the modern-day.

This time starring prominent actors Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt instead of Steve McQueen, the 2016 re-imagining of The Magnificent Seven follows the small town of Rose Cheek being heavily oppressed by industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard). Desperate to be rid of their woes, they employ the likes of seven outlaws to save their town. Preparing themselves for a violent showdown, initially in it for the money, the seven begin to realize they just might be fighting for more than just the money.

The Magnificent Seven is currently slated to release on September 23. Be sure to watch the teaser trailer below and let us know if you’re excited for this remake of the Hollywood western classic. Do you believe the western is too far in the grave to salvage, or will The Magnificent Seven represent a glimmer of hope for the genre as a whole? Only time will tell.
