For a film that I had known very little about before today, the Ellen Page starring Into the Forest is now one of my most anticipated of the year and this is all due to a quietly chilling trailer. Haunting, beautifully captured and looking to host some strong and engaging performances by Page and Evan Rachel Wood. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the film seems to be taking a different, refreshing approaching and focusing on the significance of sisterhood and how the two come to protect each other and survive with one another when all hope seems lost. Directed by Patricia Rozema (I’ve Heard the Mermaids SingingMansfield Park) and released by A24 who continue to put out interesting films throughout the yearly slate, the film hits theaters this summer.

Check out the trailer below along with the official synopsis.

In the not too distant future, two young women who live in a remote ancient forest discover the world around them is on the brink of an apocalypse. Informed only by rumor, they fight intruders, disease, loneliness & starvation.
