Catch Daniel Radcliffe in the New ‘Imperium’ Trailer

PHwAYrxPAKD8AC_1_lHaven’t you always wanted to see Harry Potter all grown up and in a white supremacist group? You can betcha I did!

Daniel Radcliffe stars in Imperium, a new film from first time writer/director Daniel Ragussis. Also written with Michael German, the film follows Nate Foster (Radcliffe) as an undercover FBI agent deep in the folds of a dangerous white supremacy group. Based on a true story, the film also stars Toni Collette, Tracy Letts, Nestor Carbonell, Burn Gorman, and Sam Trammell.

The film will be released in U.S. theaters and on demand on August 19– and on September 16 in the UK–which offers the studios (Lionsgate) distributing the film a challenge considering the number of films premiering on that weekend as well, ranging from Ben-Hur to War Dogs.

As to how did the story get to be made in the first place? Michael German served with the FBI for over 16 years and was originally working on solving white collar criminal cases until a fellow agent asked him to go undercover, considering his blond hair and blue eyes. German went on to go undercover in several extreme terrorist-tactic groups in the country and ended after he became a whistle blower, uncovering the mismanagement the FBI tried so desperately to hide.

The trailer opens with some rather violent footage just as we see a dapper, glasses-toting Radcliffe looking into the mirror; the next shot of a clean-shaven and newly bald Radcliffe taking his mugshot. Then we hear the seemingly sound voice of reason, only to find out it’s a skinhead interviewing Foster. Flash a montage of quickly edited jump cuts of fires, crosses, mobs, and anything in between, and we have an entire movie on the unknown.

Who’s the snitch? Will Foster the skinhead be caught as the rat before Foster the agent stops whatever the group’s terrorist plot is? Guess we’ll have to wait. You can watch the trailer below featuring the wonderful Radcliffe, as well check out the newly shaved actor in these two posters.
