Is it too early to start talking about Oscar Season 2017? Looks like the latest project from Mel Gibson might be a fine contender. This week, the trailer for Hacksaw Ridge was released and it looks very promising.

Set in the Battle of Okinawa (World War II) and based on a true story, the film stars Andrew Garfield as Desmond Doss, a Seventh-day Adventist army medic who does not believe in guns or killing, being the only American soldier sent to the front lines with no weapons. He single-handedly saved 75 men on the battlefield,  later on receiving a Congressional Medal of Honor.

The two-minute trailer shows a very powerful performance by Garfield and all the problems he had to endure to follow his beliefs. The film, also starring Hugo Weaving, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, Rachel Griffiths, Teresa Palmer, Luke Bracey, and Richard Roxburgh, will hit theaters on November  4. Could this be an Oscar shoo-in for Garfield? We will find out in November. Nice to have you back in the directors seat, Mr. Gibson.
