It looks like Hope Van Dyne will finally get her chance to suit up. Today, Marvel Studios has announced that ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’, a sequel to this summer’s superhero hit, will release on July 6, 2018. Stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are both expected to return, with no word yet as to whether Michael Douglass will come back as Hank Pym, or if director Peyton Reed will take the helm again. Who would have thought we would live in a time where we would be on our second Ant-Man movie? It really goes to show just how much power Marvel has, even if it starts to beg the question of if they actually do have a set in stone plan for these things. They certainly do love to plop new movies into the schedule willy-nilly. Hopefully this one is as charming and good-natured as the original, with it’s expanded role for the criminally under-used Van Dyne.

On that note, ‘Black Panther’ will now come out a little sooner, on February 16, 2018, as the Ant-Man sequel has taken it’s previous date, and ‘Captain Marvel’ will now be released on March 8, 2019. Slightly frustrating for those looking forward to a more diverse super-hero palate, but hey, baby steps right? Also, Marvel has set three mystery movies for release on May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and November 6, 2020. Will we still care by 2020? Is one of these the elusive ‘Black Widow’ movie? I suppose we’ll just have to wait firmly in the palm of Marvel’s hand to find out!
