Clint Eastwood’s ‘Sully’ releases trailer starring Tom Hanks

Sully-trailer-2016

Do I hear Oscar bells for Clint Eastwood and Tom Hanks once again? After watching the first trailer for Sully released just a few days ago, we could be having another hit-film directed by Mr. Eastwood. The film tells the story of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who saved the lives of 155 people by landing a plane on the Hudson River back in 2009.

Written by Todd Komarnicki and based on the autobiography “Highest Duty” by Sullenberger with Jeffrey Zaslow, the film not only follows Sully’s heroic stunt but also the aftermath that includes the captain’s appearance in the media and an investigation that threatens to destroy his career. Starring Hanks in the main role alongside Aaron Eckhart, Laura Linney, Anna Gunn, Autumn Reeser, Holt McCallany and Jerry Ferrara, Sully promises to be quite a ride for viewers.

Now, I know what you are all thinking: “Didn’t we see this exact story with Denzel Washington in Flight back in 2012?” Yes, the stories might resemble one another, but the important thing to remember here is that Sully is based on true characters and events, while Flight is completely fiction. Even though Washington’s performance was superb as a cocaine addict and alcoholic pilot, I have no doubt Mr. Hanks will raise the bar a little.

Sully hits theaters on September 9th. Check out the first poster for the film!
