Mark Wahlberg has been very busy this year. We just saw him in Deepwater Horizon literally two seconds ago, and now he’s ready to give us a little more drama later this year. Earlier this week, the teaser trailer for Patriots Day was released and believe me, it’s very emotional.

Directed by Peter Berg (who was also behind Deepwater Horizon), the upcoming drama film is set on the Boston Marathon bombing back in 2013, a tragedy that killed three people and injured 264 more. Walhberg portraits police sergeant Tommy Saunders, one of the many policemen who’s present during the bombing and takes part in the aftermath.

The two-minute trailer doesn’t reveal much, but it does deliver a very emotional and powerful message using a slow-paced piano version of “America the Beautiful”: Some events test our courage. Some people inspire our strength. And some moments define our spirit. Short but very strong words to deliver while putting us in perspective about what happened on April 15 that year. Looking forward to this one.

Also starring J.K. Simmons, John Goodman, Kevin Bacon, and Michelle Monaghan, the film will have original music from dynamic duo Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor, so we can expect a great soundtrack.

Patriots Day is scheduled to open on December 21. Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments!
