Eva is “Bad For Us” but we mean that in a good way. It’s hard not to tap your foot along her recently new single – Listen here. Sounds a bit of 2010 Ke$ha, no? It’s weird that we’re not hearing this jam on the radio but wait on it. Eva is dropping an EP later this year which will supply us with more catchy tracks. Check out our interview with her down below where we learn more about the story behind “Bad For Us”, her writing process, and how she stands out from other artists.
The Young Folks: When did you know you wanted to pursue a career in music? When did you start your path to become an artist?
Eva: I’ve known ever since I was a little kid. I always loved being on stage and performing as a young child. I started writing and recording music in high school, but it was after I graduated when I really started pursuing my career.
TYF: “Bad For Us” was just released so what has that been like for you to put it out there to the public? What was the process like putting out that single?
Eva: I was so excited to put this song out there. We had worked on it for a while and it’s been a favorite to many who listened early on, so I’m anxious to see how it goes. It’s done very well in the UK so far, which is super cool! It appeared on multiple charts and is circulating the club scene over there. And it’s spreading around to other countries now as well. We’ve been receiving really positive feedback! I just got done shooting the music video for “Bad For Us” and I can’t wait to release that along with the amazing new remix by Instant Karma!
TYF: Since your song is about a love being bad for us, what’s something that you love even though it’s bad for you?
Eva: CHOCOLATE!!! haha I’ve been a chocolaholic ever since I was little. I love ice cream and candy, my favorite is Reese’s!
TYF: I see on Twitter that you’ve been in the studio a lot lately pumping out new music. What can our readers expect to hear?

Eva: We’ve been real busy in the studio lately! We’re just finishing up my new song titled “Over You.” It’s likely to be my next single! We also have a slower ballad track in the works and some other ideas getting tossed around. Turns out, I have quite a few breakup/bad relationship songs. It didn’t end up that way on purpose, I haven’t personally dealt with many boyfriend issues recently, but love is always a relevant and relatable topic.
TYF: Do you plan on releasing an EP in the near future? If so, what do you hope to call it?
Eva: Yep! We are working on my EP right now and we plan to release it in mid-July, right in the middle of summer. We have been kicking some titles around for the EP, so stay tuned for our final decision on that.
TYF: What has it been like putting these new songs together? How do you decide which song will make the cut and what doesn’t?

Eva: It’s been a long process writing and recording all these new songs. But it’s fun to be creative and spend excessive hours in the studio with other creative people. It’s hard for me to pick and choose which songs will make the cut because a lot of heart and hard work goes into each one. I hardly ever want to cut any song because after working on it I get too attached. So thankfully I have a great team of people who lead that decision making process.
TYF: What’s your writing process like? Do you need to be secluded in order to get the lyrics flowing, do you grab inspiration from any specific place, etc.?
Eva: I write a lot on my own at home. Usually later at night because I’m a night owl and that’s usually when my emotions tend to come out. Inspiration can really come from anything I think. If I’m really upset or angry or sad, I’ll write about it. Sometimes I’ll hear a good song that can make me feel a certain way and that makes me wanna write.
TYF: You’re in an industry where so many people would like to pursue a career. What is it that motivates you to keep pushing for what you want?

Eva: This is definitely a very tough industry to be in and it has been really draining at times over the years. But music is and has always been the most important thing to me, I couldn’t even imagine doing anything else with my life. So no matter what I keep pushing forward. I think that’s something most artists have in common, we’re passionate and creative and don’t give up easily.
TYF: For our readers who are just getting to know you, how does your music stand out or differ from what’s been put out now? What is your goal for you as an artist?
Eva: I want my music to be a source of joy and a positive distraction for people. I have fun music and I also love writing some more emotional type ballads. So there’s a little bit for everyone to relate to. My ultimate goal as an artist is just to connect with as many people as I can in a truly meaningful way.
