Carly Rae Jepsen releases new single “Cut to the Feeling”

Carly Rae Jepsen has released a new single, continuing her reign as the best pop star we have right now.

“Cut to the Feeling” was recorded during the sessions for her excellent 2015 album E•MO•TION, but didn’t make it onto the final tracklist. It was also excluded from her EP E•MO•TION Side B, which we at The Young Folks liked so much, we named it the eighth best album of 2016.

Now, the song has found its way onto the soundtrack of the Canadian computer animated film Leap! (called Ballerina outside of the US), in which Jepsen plays a supporting role. Although it opened in Canada in February, the film’s American release has been pushed back several times, with it currently being scheduled for release on August 30. In addition to Jepsen, the film’s voice cast also includes Elle Fanning and Maddie Ziegler, with Kate McKinnon and Mel Brooks being added for the film’s (eventual) American release.

“Cut to the Feeling” is available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon, and can be streamed on your platform of choice.
