Time to go with the flow again, and just in time for the summer!
Queens of the Stone Age have returned with a new single, “The Way You Used to Do,” their first in three years and the first from their upcoming seventh album, Villains. Featuring fuzzed-out guitar riffs, a bouncy bass line, and the slithering vocals of frontman Josh Homme, this is one of the nine tracks on the album produced by Mark Ronson. Homme and Ronson recently collaborated together on Lady Gaga’s recent record, Joanne.
Villains was officially announced by the band via the above YouTube video posted yesterday, which also featured snippets of another album track, “Feet Don’t Fail Me.” Ever the chameleon, this will be Homme’s first musical project since collaborating with Iggy Pop on his acclaimed 2016 album, Post Pop Depression, and producing New Skin, the debut album from CRX, led by The Strokes’ bassist Nick Valensi. Homme also recently composed music for the German-language drama, In the Fade. Meanwhile, the band has set-up festival dates this summer with appearances at Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, Quebec, Splendour in the Grass in Byron, Bay Australia, Outside Lands Festival in San Fransisco, and Riot Fest in Chicago.
Villains hits shelves on August 25 via Matador Records.
