This is Pop? Podcast Episode 6: Katy Perry

For the past nine years, Katy Perry has been one of the biggest names in pop music, selling millions of albums and scoring hit singles around the world. But critical reception of the singer has largely been mixed since her debut with “I Kissed a Girl” in 2008.

For the sixth episode of our music podcast This is Pop? , I was joined by Jenny Norman, a staff writer for TYF’s video games section,  to discuss Perry’s career and legacy, as well as our conflicting feelings on her music. Jenny is Canadian, so we also touch on the difference between the Canadian and American music industries and how an globally popular artist like Perry is promoted within Canada’s unique music landscape.
