Caroline Grace in no way should be synonymous with Carl Renezeder. Sure, that is her famous father but that doesn’t (and shouldn’t) define who she is. In fact, Caroline is an up-and-coming pop artist who is ready to welcome 2018 with open arms. So far, she’s released her single “Show Me” which showcases her vocals in such a strong way. And now, she’s working hard on a debut album. After we interviewed Caroline, we automatically knew this is one artist we’re excited to see grow within the new year. From being super down to earth and her head on her shoulders, there’s no reason to not want her fulfill her dreams. We’re rooting for you Caroline!

Let’s start with getting to know more about you. When did you realize you wanted to pursue a career as a pop singer? How did you get your foot into the music industry?
Caroline Grace: There’s not a moment I can remember that I didn’t want to be a singer. Every time someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up it was always a “pop star.” It was never just a dream to me, it was something I always believed would be my reality and that I would make happen one way or another. So I started voice lessons when I was only 9, then when I was 14 I met my first mentor in the music industry, Mark Vogel. Soon after we recorded my first single, and from that moment on never stopped. I’ve been writing, recording, and rehearsing music consistently for the past seven years. However, the past few years have been the real turning point as I have had the ability to get more serious about making music a career and my number one priority over things like school, sports, etc.
TYF: Even though you are the daughter of the legendary racecar driver Carl Renezeder, how are you when it comes to being in the limelight? What was it like for you and even to this day being in that mini-magnifying glass?
Grace: Fame is such an interesting thing. By no means do I consider myself famous- however, I have grown up being around a relatively good amount of people I consider pretty famous. It’s all a matter of perception. People are just people. When it comes to me and the hopes of have a career that would lead to fame the main thing I work on is insecurity. There is always going to be people who love you and people who love to hate you. There are going to be great photos out there, and ones where you just look horrible. So I just prepare in growing in confidence, thickening my skin, and surrounding myself with people I trust and love.
TYF: Now that you’re stepping out as your own, how do you want to be remembered? What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?
Grace: Yes, I am passionate about music. Yes, I am passionate about singing. But I am even more passionate about making a difference. Music is my vehicle to do so. I’ve been given the opportunity and means to have a career in music and therefore, I want to use it in anyway I can to serve people in my community and out of it in an attempt to make the world a better place.
I hope my fans see a girl that they can relate to. I want to be open enough with my fans that they get to know the real me in all of my flaws and insecurities. Too often people project themselves as perfect images to the public. And oftentimes people don’t understand that those “perfect” people aren’t “perfect” at all. They are actually struggling with more insecurity than you can ever imagine. I want to project the imperfect person that I am in all my truth and vulnerability in hopes that my experiences, good and bad, can be relatable and inspire.
TYF: By the sound of it with just “Show Me” alone, I’m so excited to hear more of what’s in the works! With that being said, how is your debut EP coming along?
Grace: It’s coming along great. Several songs are done and ready to go, however I’m still working on a few and all of the content surrounding the release. It’s all really fun and exciting!

TYF: That’s amazing you’ve teamed up with Poo Bear in the past. How did that collaboration come about and what was it like working with him? What was one of the biggest lessons you’ve learned while working with him?
Grace: Working with Poo Bear was incredible. When you walk into a room to work with a guy like that you can’t help but be intimidated. However, his kind, goofy and humble persona quickly snapped that away and I felt like I was in the studio with my best friend. His level of musicianship and talent is astonishing. I couldn’t help but be amazed. His work ethic was also so inspiring. You can really tell how deep his passion for music goes. Working with Poo Bear definitely set the standard high not only in terms of who I work with in the future but also the standard of which I conduct my career. He is a perfect reminder that no matter how successful you get, you should always stay humble, always stay kind, and always work hard pouring your heart and soul into all that you do.
TYF: When can our readers expect another single coming out?
Grace: There may be a little surprise coming their way in the next few weeks actually- stay tuned :)
TYF: How do you juggle being a full-time student at USC and pursuing your ambition of being a pop singer?
Grace: Honestly, it’s tough. It’s hard to find the time in the day because both my music and college career are very demanding. However, I have the incredible opportunity to be educated at such an amazing school while pursuing a career which I love. Therefore, I make the time. Sometimes I don’t sleep, or have to sacrifice things like social events, etc. But it’s all worth it. It’s all about finding a good balance too and keeping myself healthy inside and out!
TYF: What do you do to relax when you’re not worrying about making music or studying for the next exam?
Grace: On the daily, relaxing for me typically comes in one of three ways: Working out, hanging with family/friends, and watching Disney movies, haha. But when I have the time, I head straight to the beach or to the mountains for a hike!

TYF: Where do you hope to see yourself in 2018?
Grace: I’m looking to release my debut album this coming March. So hopefully 2018 will be filled with a lot of opportunity and success regarding that. I would also love to be touring, maybe opening for an artist I really admire. That would be pretty cool!
