Tito “El Bambino” Makes His Long Awaited Return

Considered by many as one of the pioneers of what is now called Urban Music, Tito El Bambino has made his triumphant return with his Summer hit Pega Pega.

We at the Young Folks had the opportunity to sit down with Tito where we spoke about not only his new song but also about his illustrious career.

Tito’s new album is pegged to be released later this year, with Pega Pega being the first single released from the album. Pega Pega however is a song that in many ways reflect back to the original days of Urban music, then called reggaeton.

“Well the inspiration (for Pega Pega) was adding the older elements of my prior music…songs like Caile, Flow Natural, Mi Cama Huele a Ti. That kind of BPM that makes you wanna get up and dance.”

BPM was the original beat and flow of traditional reggaeton music when artists such as Tito, Don Omar and Wisen y Yandel first began making waves in the music industry.

The change to the more original style of Urban Music also had to do with the reactions Tito received from his fans.

“When I spoke with my friends, they tell me Tito your new music is great but when I throwback to your old hits the concert blows up. I can play a new song just fine but when I play Caile, Flow Natural, or Baile Morena it causes an amazing reaction from my fans. So I decided I have to focus on the BPM.”

Now aside from the beats, tempo or lyrics. The biggest change that comes from this new rejuvenated Tito Bambino is how humble he has become. Having shared the stage with artists such as Marc Anthony, Don Omar and Ozuna just to name a few. Tito no longer cares about the accolades that accompany his music. He simply cares about the art.

“The awards in life isn’t jewelry or cars, all those things come and go. What won’t come and go is that audience and that audience’s respect for you… Maybe they won’t even remember how you look physically but they will always remember what you sang about.”
