Gaby’s Thoughts: To be honest, I’m not digging this song. I will admit that I’m not huge Beyoncé fan, but I have liked some, if not most, of her past songs. Maybe after a few listens, I’ll start to like it more. I just feel like this is the kind of song we already expect from Beyoncé, I want something different, more interesting. However, I know that the music video accompanying this song will probably be awesome. Francis Lawrence (the director of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance & new movie Water for Elephants) is directing the video for Run The World. Hey, if the video is awesome enough, I may end up loving the song.
Lucy’s Thoughts: GIRL POWER! Loving the whole girl power the song has, yet not loving the song as much. Besides having a beat we’ve already heard in “Sweat” by Casely ft Lil Jon, & Machel Montano, the song isn’t ALL that in my opinion. The chorus becomes dull after a while, and I was expecting something either as potent as “Single Ladies” or vocally great as “Halo” or at least a mix of both. I’m not going to lie, this song is totally danceable but its still missing something I can’t quite put my finger on, maybe the repetition of the lyrics makes the song boring? I don’t know yet if I have to listen to it more times to see if it can grow on me. Right now, its an okay song and I hope that Beyonce’s album has great stuff in store for us.
