There was once a time when I looked forward to a new Lady Gaga video. But lately my interested in her has been fizzling out. Sure, I like a couple songs off her latest album, Born The Way. But it doesn’t compare to how brilliant The Fame and The Fame Monster are. And unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of the song “You & I’ either. Sometimes a great music video can get me to like a song more. In this case, it didn’t. There is too much going on in this video, and while I understand that with Gaga’s videos there isn’t always a direct or obvious correlation between the song’s meaning and the video, with this video, it sort of does. But it doesn’t completely work for me. Yes, I love the small dance sequences, but Gaga is playing too many characters in this one (a man, a mermaid, a bride, etc.).
