1. What advice do you have for aspiring singers?
Well, I’m an aspiring singer myself so I don’t think I’m in a position yet to give advice on this but I would say try your best and don’t give up on your dream!
2. Your biography states that you’re a classically trained pianist. That’s so amazing! How has being clasisically trained affected your songwriting or singing?
Thanks :) My background in classical music gave me a good technical foundation for the piano and improved my chops both as a pianist and songwriter. I haven’t had any professional vocal training. I learned to sing by listening to the radio and my Dad’s record collection.
3. What do you think is unique to Chasing Forever that today’s pop music lacks?
Today’s pop music on the radio is mostly dance/club music. I feel like there isn’t enough pop music out there that is pure listening type music where vocals shine. I think that is where Chasing Forever stands out.
4. Which singers have you been influenced by? And how do you incorporate that into your singing?
Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Sarah Maclachlan to name a few, are singers that I grew up listening to and admire for their vocal skills. I think you can definitely hear their influences in my music.
5. Favorite song ever? Which of your songs is your favorite?
My favorite song ever is “Angel” by Sarah Maclachlan. Favorite song of mine is “Chasing Forever.”
6. Fun fact that no one knows about you!
I went to engineering school and have two masters degrees in Electrical Engineering and have four patents for my work in biomedical devices.
7. How have your experiences affected your songwriting?
All the songs that I write are either from my own experiences or experiences of my close friends and family.
Thanks, Andrea! And everyone else, definitely buy Andrea’s EP on iTunes!
