Since their reunion in February 2013, Fall Out Boy hasn’t spent any time resting on its laurels. After the release of “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark,” the rock-pop-emo outfit has released the full length album Save Rock and Roll, their punk EP Pax Am Days, and has kicked off three full length tours—two headlining and the Monumentour, which they co-headlined with label-mate Paramore. Needless to say, they’ve been a bit busy.

To my delight, the boys are back with even more new music way before expected. Their new single, “Centuries”, debuted on iHeartRADIO around 3 p.m. this afternoon. “We never had a plan to jump right back into it after the whirlwind year we’ve had,” the band explained on its tumblr. “But sometimes the song calls you. We started writing “Centuries” while we were on tour because we felt the calling.” The new song, featuring vocals from Lolo (currently best known for her guest vocals on Panic! at the Disco’s “Miss Jackson”) and sampling the hook from Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner,” is a future concert opener that could rev up any audience.

Fall Out Boy detailed the song’s meaning on its tumblr:

Make no mistake, “Centuries” is, at its most distilled, the story of David & Goliath. It is us passing along the story of how we feel right before we step on stage, trading feeling small and human for all the sweat and grit and sheer power of belief it takes to stare down a giant. Sometimes wrongs are righted. Sometimes if you scream loud enough the world will listen. Sometimes the quintessential loser wins. Sometimes the giant falls.

It looks like a new album will be on its way as well!
