The Hives Release New Track, ‘Blood Red Moon’

The Hives

Remember The Hives? Remember the Swedish garage rock quintet with a very energetic sound, beat and even live performances? Well, if you are a hardcore fan as much as I am, you are in luck. They are back! Well…sort of.  Just a few hours ago, the band released a new single entitled “Blood Red Moon”. The track, however, is not part of their upcoming album, but rather part of the Swedish fantasy film Cirken (The Circle) soundtrack. The films is directed by Levan Akin and scored by Benny Anderson (ABBA).

According to the The Hives‘ official website, the track was:

“Written by Randy Fitzsimmons especially for Swedish movie Cirkeln (The Circle) from RMV Films. The movie (and books) tells the story of young witches in a made up town that bears an uncanny resemblance to The Hives native Fagersta.”

The film was screened earlier this week at the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival, and it’s scheduled to be released in Swedish cinemas later this month. If you think about theme of the film, the track fits perfectly to it: slow tempo with a sort of dark vibe thanks to the voice of lead vocalist Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist. Not bad at all.

But enough talk. Press play and hear “Blood Red Moon” below. Let us know what you think!
