Music News: Rixton Release Debut Album

unnamed-1

The British band, Rixton, released their debut album, Let the Road, on March 3rd. To celebrate the release, the boys hosted a Hotel-A-Thon, which was a 12-hour live stream. During the Hotel-A-Thon, the lads talked to fans and played pranks, among other fun shenanigans.

The anticipated album features 10 songs, which includes their hit single “Me and My Broken Heart.” The CD features intrigue harmonies and emotional lyrics. Their second single,“Wait On Me” has quite the sex appeal. From edgy lyrics to crisp sound, you cannot help but get lost in the track. The first song on the album Let the Road highlights the guys’ harmonies, which has a soulful sound. While the track “I Like Girls” has a smooth, laid back reggae feel. The album showcases the wide range of talent that the band has and what makes them unique among the rest.

Their album was produced by Benny Blanco, who also worked with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, and more. Two of my favorite tracks from their album are “I Like Girls” and “Beautiful Excuses” for completely different reasons. “I Like Girls” shows Rixton’s fun side. The lyrics gives us a taste of their casual and fun manner. One of the main reasons why I love this band so much is not only their talent, but for their collective personality. They are down-to-earth lads, who are passionate about music and want to pursue their music career with their best mates. Thus, this track along with the rest of the album gives us a taste of their tight sound. This track is perfect for the summer, when you can let the top down in the car and let the sun soak in.

Secondly, the track “Beautiful Excuses” has been on repeat ever since I heard it off of their album. While it does have a modern pop vibe, there is something about this track that has a hint of 90s flavor to it. The track is bittersweet as it is talking about a break up, however, much like its title, it is quite a beautiful piece. From the smooth vocal and beautiful lyrics, this track is mesmerizing for those exact reasons.

These guys have come a long way, which makes their musical journey one to watch. From playing in pubs back in their hometowns to uploading covers on Youtube, they are now quickly becoming quite the international sensation. I have fallen in love with their story and feel as if I have personally witnessed their success as artists. When I met them at their concert in San Francisco, they have instantly become one of my top favorite bands. What you see is what you get, and trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Collectively, their album shows how versatile they are as both artists and musicians. From upbeat lyrics to darker pieces like their third single, “Hotel Ceiling”, these boys are a force to be reckoned with. The album takes you on an emotional journey that encompasses the guys’ experiences and shows you a different side to Rixton. Currently on tour with Ariana Grande, and soon to be on tour with Ed Sheeran, be sure to catch Rixton in a city near you.
