Alt rockers Veruca Salt have announced that their first album in nine years will be released this July. The album, entitled Ghost Notes, will be released on El Camino Records on July 10.

The album was produced by Brad Wood, who in addition to producing the band’s debut American Thighs, was also behind the boards for Liz Phair’s Exile in Guyville and Sunny Day Real Estate’s Diary.

Ghost Notes will be the band’s first since 2006’s IV and their first to feature Nina Gordon since 1997.  It was prefaced by the release of a single and a three song EP last year.

The band was led by singer-guitarists Nina Gordon and Louise Post, and released two records – American Thighs (1994) and Eight Arms to Hold You (1997) – before Gordon split with the band for a solo career in 1998. Her subsequent solo career was often starkly different from Veruca Salt’s wiry guitar rock, and her Bob Rock-produced single “Tonight and the Rest of My Life” was a hit on adult contemporary radio in 2000. Post continued to lead the band for two further albums before the band became inactive sometime in 2007.

The original lineup reunited in 2013, and have toured consistently since.

In advance of the album’s release, the band has posted two songs from it to their SoundCloud page, “The Gospel According to Saint Me” and first single “Laughing in the Sugar Bowl.” The album will also include their single from last year, “The Museum of Broken Relationships,” the video for which you can watch below.
