Music Video Talk: Slim Jesus’ Drill Time

Drill music can be described with Chief Keef and G Herbo (Lil Herb) and Lil Bibby. The hard-hitting trap braggadocios rap coming straight outta the Chicago area. It’s aggressive, violent, and the beats are raw, which has been attributed to records like “I Don’t Like,” by Chief Keef or “Claims Made,” By G Herbo (Lil Herb) or “Ain’t Heard Bout You,” by Lil Bibby and Lil Herb.

Slim Jesus is like everything these rappers represent in their music videos to the records aforementioned, except he’s a white boy from Hamilton, Ohio who’s probably rich and goes around hanging with, what people call, “hot boys” or troublesome children who believe that’s how to be cool. It’s like, remember that time when we were afraid of having a serious white rapper work with a very highly regarded producer and that turned out all right? I do in hindsight. Slim Jesus represents what happens when they finally integrate without hesitation. Slim Jesus uses airsoft looking guns to represent his seriousness ‘bout not messing with the homie’. He’s rocking true religion and good looking ice throughout the video so I know this kid will blow-up like Corbin, formally known as Spooky Black.

In an interview conducted with Complex, Slim Jesus stated this about his moniker, “Yeah, and we flipped it and made it Slim, for obvious reasons, I’m skinny as hell. But uh, yeah I just kind of stuck with it. It made people mad for shock value. The name worked.” I personally would have preferred Swag Jesus, cause dude is all about that SWAG, but Slim is pretty cool too I guess. Will Slim Jesus become theBasedGod’s disciple? Check out his video below and let us know what you think?
